Many will have seen the recent suggestion from NHS Employers regarding a 2 year freeze on incremental payments. In exchange a number of woolly promises have been given to avoid this and seek to minimise that, along with threats of compulsory redundancy if the deal is not accepted. One of the problems for consultants is that some will never be able to achieve the final point on the incremental scale prior to retirement. This obviously has a huge impact for pensions.
What happened to the election promise of real terms increase in health spending and no threat to front line services or staff?
Of course every cloud has a silver lining; No CEA's or increments means no need to engage in job planning!
